Trip for the Decade 4

The Wilcoxsons were nice enough to lend us their vehicle. On Thursday afternoon, Elise and I left drove their Subaru to pick up Russ and Kaylee who flew out to join the festivities! And on Thursday night, we arrived at Nikki and Jason’s house.

I was very impressed, when receiving the tour, at home much Nikki and Jason have done with the house. They bought the place in order to fix it up, something they are superb at, and I hadn’t been there for about 2.5 years, so many improvements had been made. It looks fabulous! They work so hard, it’s unbelievable.2011-05-14 18.46.01

One of the delicious foods Jason made while there!

Doug and Emily also arrived that night, making their home a temporary residence for 13 people!

By the great graces of Nikki and Jason, Elise and I were given James’ room, so it didn’t feel too crowded. It was so very wonderful to all be together, all the siblings at least. It had been since mine and Brandon’s wedding that we had all been together. Unfortunately, we weren’t all together; Brandon, Anne, Ashlyn and Brenna were not there. It is impossible to say when a similar reunion will occur, or when every one of us will be together, so we seize the opportunities when they arise.

Friday morning, Bekah had 10 girls over for a Pinkalicious party. It was impressive! Everyone and everything was decked out in pink! Very fun. Jason and Madre slaved on a cake made to look like a Pinkalicious cupcake! We had stories, music, sparkling toes, necklace making, cupcake eating and birthday present opening. Nikki and Jason know how to party!

Saturday was Bekah’s baptism, the reason we were all there. It was such a wonderful service. Bekah is the oldest granddaughter, so it was a special experience for us all.  Doug started with the invocation, Bekah and Nikki performed a song that Bekah wrote the words and tune for this occasion, Nikki performed another song, Russ gave a talk on the Holy Ghost, Jason performed the baptism, Padre lead the music and Madre offered the convocation. I love my family so much, they are such wonderful examples and so very impressive individuals.

Sunday, Nikki held a recital for her 8(?) piano students. That was way neat. Monday, we worked to prep the house for painting and Nikki and I went out for a birthday lunch and birthday dessert later that night!Trip to Chicago 240

Tuesday began yet another leg of the journey!
